Next pop up happening at the brand new Geneo!
Have you seen its Cathedral-like atrium? It’s stunning and definitely IG photo worthy.
Geneo is a new life sciences and innovation hub within Singapore Science Park, developed by CapitaLand
Its name, blending ‘Gen’ and ‘Neo is appropriate since it’s a place that will foster the next generation of
innovators.
Sustainability is also the core of its place, reflected in their climate conscious design.
Geneo has achieved Green Mark Platinum and Super Low Energy certifications from Singapore’s Building
and Construction Authority.
Uses a district cooling network, it’s expected to lower carbon emissions by at least 20,000 tones over 30
years. That’s like removing 600 cars from our roads annually.
Geneo also incorporated 1400 rooftop solar panels that generates 1.1million kWh of renewable energy
each year- equivalent to powering 236 4-room HDB flats annually.
7 lts u- shaped building arrangement and the accordion facade blocks out sunlight reduces heat trapped
within the building, maximising comfort while minimising energy use,
Geneo also harvests rainwater for non-portable uses and employs an auto-irrigation system for optimising
water usage for landscaping – savings equivalent to provide water supply to 190 4-room HDB flats annually.
The Seed, a genomic garden showcases more than 20 tropical plant species, is not only a green
community space but a living laboratory for biodiversity research
Using green concrete and mass engineered timber harvested from sustainably managed forests in its
construction helps not only to lower carbon emissions, but also improves indoor air quality!
