URGENT: HELP US REBUILD GUI’S NEW HOME! Click on link bio to read GUI’s latest update on its financial situation.
Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) has been a sanctuary for the people from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan Singapore for the last 18 years. We believe that it provides a very unique yet simple answer to the challenges that urban cities face.
As many of you know, GUI has to evict from its old space to make way for housing and build from a barren piece of land. As of end June, it needs to be able to fundraise $2.7millon, first milestone of $250,000 by September 2026.
Through our community space, the Kampung Kampus, we seek to:
● create a holistic living environment through experiential learning, where one can practise being creative and taking risks,
● pioneer new ways to cultivate resilient communities and leaders, and
● make our country a more Gracious, Green, Giving, Grounded and Grateful place to live in.
This 21st century Kampung exists in Singapore because thousands of people chose to participate rather than remain spectators of their living environment. From moving soil and salvaged materials, to rescuing fishes, designing, building, planting, teaching, and caring for the land, this place has been shaped by ordinary people who believe that communities can create solutions together.
There are no community organisations in Singapore that have had to shoulder the immense costs of transforming undeveloped land into a functioning community campus. This is unprecedented, and GUI needs YOU.
前人种树,后人乘凉 (“One generation plants the trees, the next generation enjoys the shade”) 🌳. GUI’s work has huge potential to guide Singapore towards a much more sustainable future where everyone can truly live well.
