Did you know beetles make up nearly 40% of all insect species on Earth? From dung beetles that recycle nutrients to pollinators and pest controllers, these small but mighty creatures are critical to healthy ecosystems.
But there’s more–beetles have some of the wildest sex lives in the animal kingdom. Think chemical seduction, competitive mating, and evolutionary arms races. Their behaviours tell us surprising stories about nature, climate, and survival.
As bioindicators, beetles can reveal early warning signs of ecosystem stress. If they start disappearing, something’s going wrong in the environment.
