Time is running out – Semakau Landfill, Singapore’s only landfill, is filling fast. With our plastic recycling rate sitting at only 5%, it’s clear we need to make a change today so that future generations will not have to bear the environmental, economic, and social costs.
The new Beverage Container Return Scheme aims to do that, by setting a 60% collection target in its first year. While we have a long road ahead, the scheme has been successful overseas, showing us that we can do the same when we work together.
