Hello! I’m Nazish.
A little bit about the shopkeeper
I’ve always had a love for small, independent businesses. I believe they bring so much creativity, personality, and innovation to our cities and towns, and they give anyone a chance to be part of the community, no matter their background. This passion led me to pursue a PhD in Sociology at Johns Hopkins University, where I focused on the role that the government plays in helping small businesses survive and grow. Over the past 15 years, I’ve also put together photographic essays to capture the wisdom of small business owners, which I published in a coffee table book. For the past 6 years, I worked in research & strategy at Grab, where the mission is to empower everyday entrepreneurs.
Despite this lifelong admiration, I’d never run a small business myself. That changed when I found myself drawn to the energy of running a shop at the Holland Village food and market center.
A little bit about the shop
At this shop, you’ll find a range of affordable, healthy snacks for all occasions. Whether you’re looking for treats to bring to the office, snacks for a gathering with friends, gifts, or something to pop into your kids’ lunchboxes, I’ve got you covered! Planning a football or movie night? Global Village has the snacks you need!
Through this shop, I’m especially passionate about uplifting other small businesses. There are so many talented food artisans making amazing snacks that need a stepping stone to scale. I also enjoy working with importers who bring in unique, hard-to-find snacks from abroad, but in small quantities to avoid long storage times and hefty warehouse fees.
That’s where independent shops like this come in. We offer a friendly space for creative entrepreneurs to thrive, and connect customers to interesting and quality products.
Through this shop, it’s been a joy connecting with the community in Holland Village, and with many of you beyond. Thank you for dropping by. Please feel free to reach out!
