The Waste Less Supermart isn’t your usual grocery run—it’s a fun and interactive pop-up that’s all about showing how small changes in our daily habits can make a big impact on the planet. Created under the “Say YES to Waste Less” campaign by Clean & Green Singapore, this travelling showcase has been popping up at different venues across the island, inspiring Singaporeans to rethink the way we shop, eat, and live.
In previous runs, the Supermart made its way to 313@Somerset and IMM, turning shopping spaces into exciting eco-learning grounds. Visitors got to explore aisles filled with “waste-less hacks” for everyday life—like how to pack groceries without piling on disposables, or how to plan meals so nothing goes to waste. Each stop had its own highlights, from upcycling workshops by eco-creatives like Semula and The Sustainability Project, to stations where people could donate or swap reusable bags. These little touches made the Supermart more than just an exhibit—it became a hands-on, community experience.
And of course, there were perks for going green! At past editions, bringing your own reusable bottle or cup scored you a free Starbucks iced drink while stocks lasted. Small incentives like these made sustainability feel not only rewarding but also fun.
What makes the Waste Less Supermart stand out is its playful approach. It’s set up like a regular supermarket, but instead of just shopping, you “browse” ideas and activities that spark new ways of thinking. Want to learn how to store food better? Curious about how to upcycle old items into something useful? Or maybe you just want to pick up a few eco-friendly tips you can start using right away—this is the place to do it.
At its heart, the Supermart is about nudging all of us toward a lifestyle that creates less waste. It supports Singapore’s larger goal of reducing what ends up in Semakau Landfill and encourages everyone—from individuals to families—to take small, doable steps toward a cleaner, greener future.
So if you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend your day, swing by the Waste Less Supermart! Come ready with your reusables, join a workshop or two, and discover how living sustainably can be easy, creative, and even rewarding.
