For three hours, 15 of us gathered at Jurong Regional Library to explore this fundamental question, “What’s essential for life?”
We explore various themes – being with nature and our urban spaces, making time to listen to one another, innovating simple yet impactful ideas with supportive communities-along with,
place stewardship, food waste, composting, addressing food insecurity issues, and the enormous footprint of our global and local food choices.
Invited speakers:
Karen Yip Taylor from Summit Rescues shared about her accidental journey into food rescue, and how it led to unexpected adventures including collaborating with more established groups to amplify efforts.
(That same morning, her team went to rescue food, which was shared with all of us!)
Dr. Maxine Mowe from NUS gave us a glimpse of what she teaches at university.
Her passion for education shines when she shares with us what she thinks is a “Wild! fact, which includes the fact that the biomass of livestock for human food and products is far larger
han the biomass of wildlife!
